• Spend more time with them sharing the territory, and when they are connected with me, introduce the empty bucket and observe how they behave.

LESSON

• In the moment they approached, I may have gotten too excited and used my hand too much to pet them, instead of pausing, reading them more, letting them express themselves, and responding from there.

• I made a mistake also by trying to touch them when they had their heads turned away. It seems that Boston was setting clear boundaries regarding interaction, and I didn’t read them correctly. My attempt to touch them while they were signaling “not now” created a small conflict or confusion in communication: they were trying to say, “wait, I decide first.”
  
  

APRENDIZAJE

• En el momento en que se acercaron, tal vez me emocioné demasiado y usé mucho mi mano para hacerles cariño, en lugar de pausar, leerlos más, dejarlos expresarse y responder desde ahí.

• Me equivoqué también al intentar tocarlos cuando tenían la cabeza girada hacia otro lado. Parece que Boston estaba estableciendo límites claros sobre la interacción y yo no supe leerlos. Mi intento de tocar mientras ellos señalaban “no ahora” generó un pequeño conflicto o confusión en la comunicación: ellos estaban tratando de decirme “espera, primero yo decido”.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• That day I arrived and didn’t go to greet them immediately. I sat in my chair and spent a while with Leche, the female cat, who can now sit on my lap without scratching me. Later, two new puppies appeared who were a bit impertinent, and I spent some time teaching them to respect both my space and the cats and chickens. At one point, one of them tried to catch a chicken, and I had to intervene. Once everything calmed down, I sat down again.

• It seems that during my first encounter with Boston, I asked him to wait, and then we interacted for a while. He then laid his body on me, and I touched him with my hand, setting a boundary for my space. I didn’t want to move them that day. At one point, I went to greet them and they went off in another direction, and I let them go, walking the opposite way. Later, both of them came to me, and we had a long moment of connection, one we hadn’t had in a long time, exactly what I wanted to reconnect with. Then, before I could ask them to leave, Boston decided to go, and Sofie followed him.

• Later, I placed the empty bucket in the center of the paddock and moved Sofie when she tried to go see it, although she did manage to sniff it. Boston didn’t go at that moment. But later, when I got distracted talking to someone, without me noticing, they went to the bucket, and I barely managed to ask them to move after they had already sniffed it.

• That was everything for that day, as I decided to pause the relocations and spent more time with them sharing the space. 

DESTACADOS DE LA EXPERIENCIA

• Ese día llegué y no los fui a saludar inmediatamente. Me senté en mi silla y estuve un rato con Leche, la gatita, que ahora sí puede sentarse en mi regazo sin arañarme. Después aparecieron dos perritos nuevos que estuvieron impertinentes, y estuve enseñándoles a respetar tanto mi espacio como a los gatos y a las gallinas. Uno de ellos, en un momento, intentó atrapar a una gallina y tuve que interceder. Cuando todo se calmó, volví a sentarme.

• Parece que en mi primer encuentro con Boston le pedí que esperara, y luego interactuamos un rato. Entonces él puso su cuerpo sobre mí, y yo lo toqué con la mano, marcándole un límite a mi espacio. No quise moverlos ese día. En un momento los fui a saludar y salieron hacia otra dirección, y yo los dejé ir, caminando en dirección opuesta. Luego, después, ambos vinieron hacia mí y tuvimos un momento muy largo de conexión, que no teníamos desde hacía mucho tiempo, justo lo que yo quería retomar. Y luego, antes de que yo les pidiera que se fueran, Boston decidió irse y Sofie lo siguió.

• Más tarde puse el canasto vacío en el centro del corral y desplacé a Sofie cuando intentó ir a verlo, aunque ella logró olerlo. Boston no fue en ese momento. Pero más tarde, cuando me distraje hablando con alguien, sin que yo lo percibiera, ellos fueron al canasto y yo apenas alcancé a pedirles que se movieran cuando ya lo habían olido. 

• Eso fue todo por ese día, pues decidí poner en pausa los traslados y estuve más rato con ellos compartiendo el espacio.
