Ground School

Description:  

Students will be introduced to the Welcome Packet, install necessary software and be given an opportunity to request assistance with Hardware/Software issues. Students will be introduced to CTAF protocols and familiarization with the F/A-18C Cockpit.  

Task:  

1. Welcome Packet Brief:  

1. Installation of DCS Open World Beta 

2. SOP-1 

3. Rules of Discord  

4. Rules of Server  

5. Syllabus.  

6. Map Layout 

2. Installation of SRS:  

1. Assigning Key binds 

2. Adjust Audio Settings   

3. Hardware Familiarization 

1. VR/Track IR 

2. Assign Necessary Key binds on HOTAS for Syllabus. 

-Trim, Flaps, Gear, Hook, Speed Break, Wheel Breaks, Curves, Fuel Probe and ect. 

4. CTAF Protocols 

1. Five “W’s” 

-Where/Who you are talking to, Who you are, Where is your position, What’s the Intent, Where/Who your talking to. 

b.   Difference between Controlled vs. General Traffic 

5. Familiarization with the F/A-18C 

1. Walkaround the Aircraft 

2. Walkthrough the Cockpit 

-Introduce the Panels and Switchology 

c.   Walkthrough the Start-Up Procedure 

Standard: Students must Demonstrate an intimate knowledge of the welcome packet to include The Hornet School’s rules and expectations. Students must demonstrate that they can receive and transmit via SRS. Students must have functional head tracking software. Students must be able to broadcast CTAF. Students MUST show an understanding for the F/A-18C’s Cockpit. Students Must Demonstrate the ability to Start their Aircraft.
