For years, Hoquiam Loggers' Playday has offered iconic commemorative t-shirts. The 2026 design features Norm Callaghan and one of his Volkswagen Beetles. The watermelon tree act has been a longtime fan favorite, and thanks to Norm and his daughter, the act has grown even bigger every time we get one of his donated bugs out there to smash! Shirts are available for purchase in Aberdeen at The Timber Gym or Harbor Saw and Supply, and in Hoquiam at Hoquiam Licensing. Shirts may also be available along the Elks Grand Parade route.
Who is Hoquiam Loggers' Playday?
Hoquiam Loggers' Playday is a non-profit organization whose goal is to give back to the community. Every year since 1965 the Hoquiam Loggers' Playday committee puts on a logging show, honoring the roots of our logging community. Beyond our annual entertainment of the logging show, Hoquiam Loggers' Playday provides scholarships, sponsors little league teams and gives grants and donations back to the community.

The Hoquiam Loggers' Playday committee meets the first Thursday of every month at the Hoquiam Elks Lodge at 7:00 pm. New members are always welcome. Attend a meeting to see the variety of ways you can contribute to this worthwhile team!

Sign Ups
Time to sign liability waivers, pick events, buy your button and grab your contestants shirt for the show! You can show up anytime between 7 am and 8 am, this is NOT a first come first serve experience. Contestants should stick around to ensure they will qualify for the show by checking in after the safety message at 8 am.

Time Trials/Bull of the Woods Safety Message
Only the top 8 to 12 contestants or teams will be able to compete in the show. Time trails may need to be run in order to determine the top contestants for show time. Events typically requiring time trails are:
Ax Throw
Power Saw Bucking
Choker Setting
Obstacle Pole
At 8:00 am the morning of the show, the Bull of the Woods will start time trials with a safety message to the contestants and let them know which events will require time trails.

Show Time!
Who's ready for a logging show?! Spectators can start filling the stands at 5:30 pm. Contestants are expected to have their gear on the field and vehicle off the field before 5:00 pm. Field will be cleared of anyone except contestants and committee members when the show starts. Spectators are expected to stay in the stands for their own safety.
