What is the H.O.P.E.+ Initiative?
Health. Outreach. Prevention. Education and Plus (H.O.P. E.+) has partnered with non-profit organizations throughout El Paso, TX., and surrounding areas to provide information, education, resources, and assistance to the community.
UTEP students from various departments such as social work, occupational therapy, speech pathology, nursing, and clinical laboratories have the opportunity to network, learn about the agencies and needs of marginalized individuals. Provides opportunities to become involved in the community and learn through hands-on experience.
Our health fairs are organized every 2-4 months in collaboration with our partners and collaborators who aid in giving us the space and time to invite agencies who provide their services at no cost for our community.
H.O.P.E.+ Initiative has been seen as a beacon of opportunity and change when providing services to marginalized and disadvantaged communities who have been affected from migration, disadvantaged systems, lack of education, and resources. The university's various departments alongside neighboring agencies come together to create a system of change and help the community's physical, emotional, and mental health.
