Drug abuse is a pressing issue globally, and Nepal is not immune to its impacts. In Nepal, drug addiction has become a significant concern, affecting individuals, families, communities, and society as a whole.
The consequences of drug abuse in Nepal are far-reaching. Health-wise, drug addiction leads to physical and mental health issues, including infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS due to needle-sharing among intravenous drug users. Substance abuse also strains the social fabric, leading to broken families, increased crime rates, and societal disintegration. The economic impact is significant as well, with healthcare costs, lost productivity, and the burden on social welfare systems adding to the economic challenges faced by the country.
Our Pokhara city is also one of the most affected areas by drug abuse and addiction. The prevalence of drug addiction has had significant consequences for individuals and the community. Recognizing the situation's urgency, Hopegiver Nepal is deeply concerned about addressing this issue, specifically in Pokhara. Their initiatives aim to raise awareness, provide support, and implement programs to combat drug abuse and addiction in the city. By focusing on Pokhara, Hopegiver Nepal is working towards making a positive impact and creating a safer and healthier environment for its residents.
