I started this program back in 2018, but I was only successful in doing it in one school in Pokhara. Before I did this project, I researched Province No. 4 (Gandaki, Dhaulagiri, and Nawalparasi) and collected the reports of prisoners who are imprisoned for being found guilty in drug cases from 10 different district prisons in Nepal. I built my presentation where I explained everything about it to show the people about the use and abuse of drugs. I tried my best; I did whatever I could do at that time. But lack of encouragement, motivation, and financial issues led me to decide to quit this project, and I quit. I wasn't happy, but... I quit!
But in 2022, I had the opportunity to teach in a school as a music teacher, and there I realized how important this topic is for those growing kids. because I had also started using drugs at a teenage age. I lost many things in my life; I lost my education, my career, my hobbies, and my identity as being on this earth. So I decided to get back to work. I opened my old project folder and started working on it. I decided to reach them and spread the awareness and consequences of drug use and abuse to them as well as all over Nepal.
What encourages me to do this even though I'm alone? because I had been addicted for seven years. I lived that darker life. I know the rejection. I know the pain of being alone. I know the suffering. I know where it will lead us. I know their hearts. I know how hard it is to quit the addiction. I know the pain of their parents and families. I just want to see them happy and healthy and living a good life with their families and loved ones before they become addicted. I want to see them realize this and say, "I SAY NO TO DRUGS" louder. I want to see people change in their lives.
Drug abuse can lead to physical and mental health problems, addiction, and even death. It can also contribute to criminal activity such as theft, violence, and drug trafficking, which can result in severe consequences such as imprisonment and a criminal record that can impact future opportunities.
To address this issue, it is important to take a multi-faceted approach that includes education, prevention, treatment, and enforcement. Education and prevention programs can raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and help young people make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
Treatment programs can provide support and resources for those struggling with addiction, and enforcement can help deter drug-related criminal activity and hold those responsible accountable.
Hopegiver Nepal can play an important role in addressing drug abuse in Pokhara by partnering with local organizations, schools, and government agencies to develop and implement effective prevention and treatment programs. It can also advocate for policies and laws that prioritize drug education, prevention, and treatment.
Overall, addressing drug abuse in Pokhara will require a concerted effort from all sectors of society, and Hopegiver Nepal can play a vital role in this effort. It is important to take a multi-faceted approach that includes education, prevention, treatment, and enforcement to address this issue.
Hopegiver Nepal is not registered with the Nepal government yet. We need a lot of resources, finances, and volunteers to work on this project. This program is conducted by an individual, and we hope that with your help and support, we will be registered with the government sooner.
