Caitie Lucas, the firstborn of Feliz and Jay Jay Lucas, was only 3 years old when she was seen with lesions similar to a mosquito bite and was diagnosed with a simple case of allergic reaction and later on as tuberculosis. After six months of having a non-concrete diagnosis, the family made the decision to travel to Singapore for medical care, where they discovered that Caitie has a Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML) disease, a rare blood cancer that affects young children. Amity was diagnosed with Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) at the age of four. DIPG is a kind of brain cancer that cannot be medically treated and has a nine-month average survival span. She had radiation therapy to reduce the tumor, but her condition worsened, and on the 11th of January 2018, she passed away. Her cells were donated to a tumor bank for DIPG, and they are currently being used in studies to discover novel DIPG treatments. Her legacy will keep on to save the lives of children. Prior to diagnosis, Kristian was a healthy and nonchalant infant, but after 15 months, he started exhibiting seizure-like symptoms. He was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, Anaplastic Astrocytoma grade 3 glioma located in his brain stem. He was given less than a year to live, but despite his devastating prognosis, Kristian prevailed in his fight against cancer and is now attending school, eager to learn and have fun. Christine Jane Doblas was a resident of Inabanga, Bohol. At just 4 years old, she started developing bruises, and experienced joint pains that made her incapable of walking. Upon closer inspection, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) , a type of cancer in the blood that affects the bone marrow. As such, she was recommended to undergo three years of chemotherapy. After her 3-year treatment plan, she exited the chemotherapy program in 2008, and has since then graduated from college while still persistently advocating towards helping children with cancer. Jovhen Ramirez, a resident from Surigao, Philippines now living in Davao City, was only 5 years old when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). She has undergone a successful 4-year chemotherapy treatment plan to treat her cancer, and is now cancer free for 14 years. She details her experiences, while encouraging and inspiring childhood cancer patients to persevere and endure, and to stay positive and courageous throughout their ongoing battles against cancer.
