Hop Don't Shop

My mission is to help people learn about and understand why getting bunnies for Easter is not a good idea. People need to research and learn how to properly care for bunnies before getting one. Too many bunnies are being bought and returned around Easter time because people think it is a good idea to gift rabbits to a child, but then the child can’t take care of it, and the bunny goes back to a shelter. This website helps to provide resources and educational information around the topic of rabbit ownership, health, and resources for those looking to adopt rabbits.
This is important because each year, numerous rabbits are given as pets, especially at Easter time. Unfortunately, most people do not know how to properly care for rabbits, and 80% of the rabbits that are given as gifts are abandoned within a few weeks. Most of these rabbits don't live until their first birthday. My Girl Scout Gold Award project educates people as to what being a responsible rabbit owner entails, and how to properly care for pet rabbits. I am accomplishing this mission through the creation of this website, presentations at school, an Instagram account @hopdont_shop and making educational brochures.
