Music Director and Conductor, Mrs. Stella Shea-Perez, has been teaching at Hoover High School for over 15 years. After graduating from Fowler High School, she attended Fresno City College to receive her Associates degree. She then transferred to California State University, Fresno, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree and performed under the direction of Dr. Lawrence Sutherland (Doc), Dr. Gary P. Gilroy and Dr. Timothy Anderson. She has been a flute student of Dr. Teresa Beaman and Yamaha Performing Artist Tracy Harris.
After marrying her high school sweetheart, and having three beautiful children, Mrs. Perez attended Fresno Pacific University where she attained a Master's of Arts degree, with an emphasis in conducting. Having studied with composer and pianist, Dr. Walter Saul, and esteemed conductor and mentor Dr. David Betancourt.
Mrs. Perez is currently conducting the Hoover High School Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Choir and Jazz Ensemble, as well as teaches History of Rock and Roll. She has been the department chair since 2014 and has served on the School Site Council as well as the School Building Committee. She thoroughly enjoys teaching about life and music, and spending quality time with her family.
