The Hoover High School Music Department offers various performing ensembles throughout the school year.
Each ensemble has it's own page with specific information. The link to those pages can be found in the upper right side of the webpage. Just click on the tab and a drop down menu should appear.
Band
This class takes place year round during 6th period and one weekly after school rehearsal. Students will perform at football games, parade competitions, and school/community events.
Colorguard
This class takes place year round during 6th period. During the FALL semester, students will perform at various events and competitions as part of the marching band. They will learn both movement and equipment technique in order to perform a choreographed routine. During SPRING semester, this ensemble becomes winterguard and performs at indoor competitions in the SVWAA circuit.
Percussion
This class takes place year round during 6th period. During the FALL semester, students will perform at various events and competitions as part of the marching band. During the SPRING semester, this ensemble becomes winter percussion and performs at indoor competitions.
Choir
This class takes place in the FALL and SPRING and mostly participates in festivals although they will perform at concerts here on campus, or some students within the choir may be apart of singing at football games, rallies, and graduation.
Orchestra
This class is also year round taught in the FALL and SPRING and performs at various festivals throughout the year where the ensemble is graded and is also apart of a clinic where they have the opportunity to gain more information from an adjudicator. This ensemble also performs on campus during concerts hosted by the music department.
