Khalid Alhooshani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of South Florida in 2005, MS. in chemistry from the Florida institute of Technology in 2001 and a BS from King Saud University in 1994. Dr. Khalid Alhooshani continue his Postdoctoral experience throughout a short research visit (eight weeks each) at Caltech in 2011under the direction of Prof. Robert H. Grubbs, Also at Cranfield University in 2013 under the direction of Dr. Emma Goslan, and at National University of Singapore for three year visit between 2006-2010 under the direction of Prof. Lee Hian Kee.
The research focus of Alhooshani’s group is on the design, synthesis, and characterization of porous nanomaterials such as metal-oxides nanoparticles, modified-carbon, mesoporous silica, zeolites, hybrids and metals supported for use in adsorption, catalysis, and extraction for clear water and fuel. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles and presented many lectures and seminars.
Dr. Alhooshani has been working in academic institution for 25 years as an instructor, and had a great interest to promote student-centered learning. He has presented and facilitated over 65 workshops on teaching and learning for elementary, secondary, and university teachers. Dr Alhooshni works with Faculty and teachers across Saudi Arabia to support teaching effectiveness and facilitate engagement in student learning.
Born and raised in the quiet city of Arass in Saudi Arabia. Apart from his passion for all things related to research, teaching and academic development among the corridors of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, he always feels nostalgic for his hometown. To live simply with his good people and his family memories and the greatest nostalgia for his parent's house that is full of warm affection and vitality.
