Richard Hooley

Richard Hooley obtained his undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences from Emmanuel College, Cambridge University (1999), before moving to Princeton University where he received his Ph.D. in 2004 in the laboratory of Prof. Martin F. Semmelhack. In 2004, he joined the lab of Prof. Julius Rebek, Jr. at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA as a Skaggs Postdoctoral Fellow. In 2008, Richard began his independent career in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California - Riverside. The Hooley group works on various aspects of organic, inorganic and supramolecular chemistry, with a focus on the synthesis and applications of biomimetic self-assembled cages and hosts, and their functions in supramolecular catalysis, molecular recognition and biosensing.
