The Maestro Toshio Akiyama Memorial Farewell Concert was streamed live on YouTube, allowing audiences around the world to commemorate his extraordinary life, artistry, and lifelong dedication to wind music education and performance.
This memorial concert was held at the RaiBoC Hall in Omiya, Saitama, Japan on Saturday, February 21, 2026 and celebrates Maestro Akiyama’s profound contributions to the wind band movement in Japan and beyond. Performers included volunteers from the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, Tokyo Wind Symphony Orchestra, Omiya Wind Symphony, Family Winds NAGOMI, Omiya City Community Band HIBIKI, and music universities across Tokyo. Through a thoughtfully curated program, the performance reflected both his musical passion and the enduring legacy he leaves for future generations of musicians.
