Biography

Dr. Hongyong Zhang is a Senior Fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI), Japan. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics (with Distinction) from Kyoto University. Dr. Zhang's research interests include international trade and investment, industrial and trade policy, and the Chinese economy. His research has been published in academic journals including the Journal of Monetary Economics, European Economic Review, Journal of Comparative Economics, and Review of World Economics. Dr. Zhang has been a consultant to many government organizations including the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
