I have been involving in many exciting projects. My recent projects are the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme AI4PEX on AI-enhanced representation of extremes and Horizon 2020 programmes 4C on carbon-climate interactions and COMFORT on ocean tipping elements. I have been working for a German national project MiKlip on decadal climate prediction and Cluster of Excellence project CliSAP on stochastic meso-scale processes. In the meanwhile, I participated in the WCRP Grand Challenge: carbon feedbacks in the climate system. My work was also actively involved in other EU projects CARBOCHANGE and CRESCENDO. Moreover, I have engaged in writing chapter 9 of the IPCC AR5 and chapter 4 of the IPCC AR6 as a contributing author.
The Earth system predictions provide valuable inputs for understanding the global carbon cycle and informing climate-relevant policy. Earth system model-based applications will be a useful tool in supporting global carbon stocktaking in compliance with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
