The Association of Hong Kong Language Centers (AHKLC) Symposium 2025 took place from May 22–23 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This year’s theme is “Repositioning Language Education in the Age of AI.”
My presentation, titled “Designing Effective Prompts for EAP: A Community-Supported Model for Writer-Centered Use of Large Language Models,” explores strategies for crafting effective prompts in LLM-assisted English for Academic Purposes (EAP) writing. I propose a community-supported model that emphasizes a writer-centered and ethical approach, empowering both novice and experienced EAP writers to leverage LLMs while maintaining their agency and autonomy through the use of specific rhetorical strategies.
