Research

My research interests cover three themes: International Trade, Innovation Economics, and Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).

Since international trade plays an important role in economic development, it is crucial to unearth the determinants of trading activities. Different types of innovative activities and IPRs are considered key factors in boosting trade volume. Thus, I would like to tackle these aspects to see the extent of these impacts on trade.

Furthermore, research on export diversification and studies on the determinants of export quality are lacking to date. Specifically, the role played by innovation in general and, in particular, the role of IPRs is understudied. Therefore, the relationship between export quality, innovation, and IPRs arouses my curiosity.

My work focuses on using data at different levels to examine the relationship between innovation, IPRs, and export quality, specifically, export quality and patent intensity: a bidirectional relationship moderated by institutional quality, and causal effects of policies on firms' innovation.
