About me
Hi, I'm Ngoc.
My curiosity about economics emerged when I was a high school student, especially, when witnessing the difficulties that people encountered in their daily lives as a consequence of the global financial crisis in 2008. I was wondering why inflation increased to such an extent, when the recession would alleviate, whether it would return, and what people should do to deal with it. These questions inspired me to choose a university major relating to the field of economics after I finished high school.
In 2011, I passed the entrance exam into the University of Economics and Law (UEL), a member of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU), specializing in Economics. During my 4 years studying at UEL, I gained a voluminous amount of valuable knowledge which helped me to better understand my previously mentioned global and economic concerns. The more I learned, the more I became aware of the importance of economics, which gave me motivation to pursue a Master in Economics program. Right after completing my bachelor degree, I applied for and was admitted to the Master of Science in Economics program of Christian-Albrechts Universität zu Kiel (CAU), Germany in 2016. I completed all the courses and the master thesis titled "Possible Impact of The Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership on Vietnam’s Trade" in 2.5 years, and successfully obtained the master degree in 2018.
After my master's program, I came back to Vietnam and since 2019 I have started working for the Faculty of Economics, UEL, where nurtured my passion for Economics during my bachelor's study. My responsibilities were giving lectures on Microeconomics and Macroeconomics to bachelor students and doing research relating to International Trade topics. I also participated in projects sponsored by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and projects funded by UEL.
The experience harvested during my studies and work equipped me with insights into this area and research tools that enable me to explore further issues within my specialty. My passion for expanding economic expertise and research skills is the main driver for me to yearn for a Ph.D. program. From November 2022, I'm a Ph.D. student in Economics at the Programme of the Tuscan Universities (Florence - Siena - Pisa). My research interests are International Trade, Innovation Economics, and Intellectual Property Rights.
Besides my passion for economic research, I have a strong affection for instrumental music, especially piano. I have played piano for more than 12 years now. I found it an efficient way to enhance my memories and patience. Reading books is also one of my daily activities, which satisfies my curiosity about the world.
