Renowned sculpture Philippe Faraut has lived in Honeoye with his wife, Charisse, since 1996. They not only have an art studio where they welcome students from all over the world to study sculpting but an art gallery as well. They have donated or provided eight sculptures in the business are where our Honeoye Art Walk begins.
Originally born in Annecy France, Faraut received his degree in woodcarving and construction of French fine furniture from Germain Sommeillier. After establishing residence in the US, he developed an interest in modeling the head in clay. An avid traveler, Philippe’s destinations have allowed him the opportunity to study the culture of many countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean, thus influencing hs work in portraiture. His numerous original works range from six inch porcelain figurines to over life-sized monuments in both stone and bronze and has exhibited his sculptures in various galleries and nation and international competitions.
Faraut conducts seminars on portraiture and figure sculpting here in Honeoye, several other US locations and France.
