I love programming and like to try out new features in my free time. My favourite coding language is C / C++. The power and flexibility allowed to the programmer really bowls me over. Haskell, a functional language is also very cute and would really like to work on it in the future.
I know quite a number of other programming languages, namely Java, JavaScript, Visual Basic, Python and COBOL. GNU-Octave and R are also used for statistical-based programming.
For parallel programming I used GNU-MPI and GNU-GMP libraries, while for large scale distributed computing I am comfortable in Map-Reduce and Hadoop.
I am very comfortable on Windows systems as well as on Linux based environment. Linux is preferred by a far margin. As the technical joke goes -
"Macintosh for GRAPHICS, Linux for SERVERS, and Windows for ... SOLITAIRE !!!"
I aim to become comfortable with the Sun Solaris and the MAC environment in the future. Currently I am using Ubuntu Xenial Xerus (v 16.04 LTS).
LATeX, Adobe Photoshop, InkScape, Dia, XFig, MS Office are a few of the softwares that I rely a lot upon.
