Born in the "City of Joy" - Calcutta or Kolkata (as we now know it !!), India, I have been surrounded by the warmth and love of people, family, friends and the city itself.
I completed my schooling from Don Bosco School, Kolkata, one of the premier schools in the country which instilled in me strong foundations for an exciting and successful life ahead. My childhood sparkles with memories of numerous pranks with my gang of friends, loads of games and intense fun-filled days. Apart from an acute interest in academics, I also took active part in sports, debates and other competitive events such as elocution and story-writing.
Enthralled by the world of computers, I decided to pursue Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and although I had been introduced to computers way back in 1995, my under-graduate days exposed the pearls hidden in this field of study.
Urged on by the propensity to learn and know more about Computer Science, I completed my Master of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, ranked among the top 3 technical and research institutions in the country and is highly esteemed across the globe. My graduate studies instilled in me an aptitude for active research, through an year-and-half long Master's thesis, which I have chosen as my career objective.
IIT, Kanpur provided the ideal launching pad for me to dive deep into the world of research, and since then I have been pursing my dream at esteemed research institutes.
I feel honoured to have walked the halls of the legendary Bell Labs, the birthplace of fundamental computer science, where the nostalgia is still palpable. It was a great privilege to have been invited to the Heidelberg Laureate Forum 2018 and to meet great researchers who have won the Turing Prize, the Fields Medal and the Abel Prize.
The joys of watching a proposed idea taking shape, breaking barriers, and finally touching millions of life through bleeding edge technological advancement is easy to experience, but difficult to express.
