Hi, 

Currently, I am the Chief NLP Research Scientist at Huawei Research Centre, Dublin, Ireland leading the Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Operations group. 

My ongoing research involves NLP, Data Mining, Information Retrieval, and Artificial Intelligence for Knowledge Extraction and Text Categorization. I am also working on incorporation of Machine Learning approaches to boost the performance of traditional algorithms, and other related research problems pertaining to data de-duplication, data compression, indexing, and big data analytics.

My research interests broadly span -

I have 60+ international publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences and journals like Nature, VLDB, ACL, AAAI, IJCAI, TACL, SIGIR, CIKM, WWW, ICWSM, ECML-PKDD, EMNLP, and EDBT with over 800 citations (an h-index of 13). 

I am also active in the scientific community as an IEEE member and have served as PC member for various conferences and journals like IEEE TKDE, Elsevier JPDC, ECAI, ECML-PKDD, WWW, EMNLP, ICDM and CIKM.

Bio in Brief

I have 9+ year of industrial research experience with Huawei Research,  Bell Labs, Google Inc., IBM Research and Eaton R&D, where my primary research focus is on language models, text embedding & classification, question answering systems, unsupervised topic labeling of natural language texts via machine learning approaches, text analytics for automated knowledge hierarchy maintenance. 

I have also worked on High Performance Analytics, exploring problems related to Data Stream Mining, and Indexing and Caching Techniques for Video-on-Demand (VoD) service to mobile users, and in Cloud Computing for developing approaches for efficient placement and scaling of virtual machines (VM) in Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platforms. I have led a team for research and development of AI and Machine Learning augmented solutions for enterprise processes.


I completed my Ph.D. studies from Max Planck Institute for Informatics, Saarbrücken, Germany with the Databases and Information Systems group under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gerhard Weikum. My doctoral dissertation explored novel methodologies for faster, efficient, and scalable Knowledge Harvesting and Storage, and was featured as a special mention in IEEE Intelligent Informatics Bulletin 2017. 

I completed my Master of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur under the supervision of Dr. Arnab Bhattacharya (awarded Academic Achievement Award), and Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology from Jadavpur University, Kolkata (awarded University Gold Medal).
