If you've requested information about renting from the school (select instruments & Instruments for All Program) your teacher will send that to you soon.
If you'll be renting an instrument from a local store, go ahead and rent one as soon as possible. You may want to call the store in advance.
Students will be notified of their Specials schedule so they know which day they will have Strings or Band.
Returning students - keep practicing!
Beginners:
While this is super-exciting, please WAIT until our first lesson and/or instrument assembly videos are provided before beginning. We want to make sure you don't accidentally break anything or develop bad habits before classes even begin. Beginning Strings students, please don't touch or tighten the bow hair!
Parents/Guardians, when it is time to assemble the instrument (band) for the first time, your presence would be a great help in getting your child started correctly!
Be sure your child has an appropriate place to practice. It should be quiet and away from other children who are learning online.
The practice and lesson space should have a chair with no arms, a music stand, and a table or desk for their computer set up so that the video is able to capture their posture, face, and hands on instrument.
Put practice time on the student's schedule! 15-20 minutes per day when there is no Band/Strings class should become part of their routine from the first week.
Celebrate small accomplishments! Since we can't perform in concerts for now, home recitals and playing on Zoom for distant family are great ways to help build confidence and self esteem.
Don't be afraid to ask for help! That's what we're here for, and our goal is your success.
Please email with any questions. We are happy to help!
