Instrumental music is not just about learning how to play the cello or flute. Our performing ensembles also teach students important life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, perseverance, leadership, accountability, honoring commitments, and discipline. Learning and instrument can also help relieve stress, build self-confidence, and be an outlet for creativity and expression! - Source: The National Association for Music Education

"Statistical benefits of music in education." Statistical-Benefits-Of-Music-In-Education. Accessed July 17, 2014.

Students believe that playing music diminishes boundaries between people of different ethnic backgrounds, age groups and social interests. - Presentation to U.S. Congress, 2007, Washington D.C.
