Salvation is not something anyone can earn. It's purely a gift from God. Through the holy life, innocent suffering and death, and victorious resurrection of Jesus, God's Son, God has worked salvation for everyone. Salvation through grace alone means that anyone's eternal life with God is dependent, not on one's own work, but completely upon the love of God as seen in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Such salvation is never earned by man. Faith trusts in Jesus. Faith believes that what Jesus did was done for sinners. Thus faith does not point to anything man does as evidence of salvation, but only to Jesus and what He did. In effect, faith says, "What's mine is His, namely my sin, death, and condemnation; and what's His is mine, namely, His righteousness, life, and salvation." (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Certainty of salvation is found in Scripture alone. The Bible is entirely God's Word. It is the sole source from which such faith in Jesus comes. All other teachings come from the Bible as well. In that way, a person's salvation is certain, not because it is based on feelings or human thought, but solely because God says so in the Bible.
Holy Cross Lutheran Church (a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod) is committed to proclaiming this unchanging and precious message of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, as revealed by Scripture alone.
We rejoice in the relationship we share through our common faith. We are committed to caring for, supporting, and encouraging our fellow believers in Christ. We strive to serve our Lord and to reach out to others with the love of Christ.
