What is a den?
A Den is a group of Cub Scouts organized by age and/or grade, typically 6-10 boys. The Den collectively works towards rank advancement by completing required adventures and at least two elective adventures. By the end of the school year, with active participation, scouts will achieve their rank. In 5th grade, upon completion of the required adventures, the AOL scout will "cross over" into a Scouting Troop. This takes place at our Blue & Gold Ceremony. The Arrow of Light patch is the only Cub Scout patch that can be worn on the Scouting America uniform after the Cub Scout advances from the Pack to a Troop.
A Den is run by the Den Leader and can have one or more Assistant Den Leaders. All Den Leaders, Assistant Den Leaders, and adult volunteers are registered with Scouting America and have completed a background check and Youth Protection Training. The Den Leader will set the meeting schedule each year and share it with their Den.
What is a pack?
All the Dens together make up the Pack which is led by the Cubmaster and the Pack Committee. The Pack Committee is led by the Committee Chair. The Scout Year typically runs end of September to June. The Pack meets one Friday night a month for a fun activity like a game night, animal show or demonstration. We also go camping, hiking and clean the community together.
The pack meetings are where we recognize scouts for their achievements by awarding completed adventures and at the end of year their rank badges.
