If you've looked around my website, you will already know that I received my Doctorate in Philosophy from The University of Iowa in 2021, and that I am the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Optimae LifeServices.
I moved on my own, at 21 years old, to Iowa City, IA in 2016 from Dundee, Scotland, which is my hometown. I spent my undergraduate days at The University of Glasgow studying Philosophy which included a year on exchange at The University of Oklahoma, Norman. Prior to higher education, I attended The High School of Dundee in Dundee, Scotland where I captained my house, played tennis, hockey and swam for my school. I also represented my country of Scotland in national public speaking competitions in which I was placed.
I have always loved travelling and find myself very lucky to be able to explore the world, immerse myself in different cultures and perspectives, and live in different places whilst furthering my education. Whilst I miss my family and friends back home in Scotland, I have come to sincerely appreciate my time with my friends and family on both sides of the Atlantic, and indeed from around the world. I am forever appreciative of how much I can learn and grow from those with different life experiences, backgrounds and viewpoints to my own.
I believe the importance and power of a friendly face is often overlooked within academia, teaching and the workplace in general and I therefore strive to be that smiling face for my colleagues, students and, to be honest, everyone I meet.
