Applying a discount code takes seconds, but the consequences run on for weeks or months depending on what you bought. This is a timeline view of what actually happens once TECHREVIEW is used on a Holafly order: the hour of purchase, the first week of travel, and the longer tail of subscription billing.
Nothing happens until you have confirmed two things: that your phone supports eSIM and that it is carrier-unlocked. Holafly publishes a compatibility list for this. Broadly, compatible devices include most iPhones from the XR onwards, recent Google Pixels, and the Samsung Galaxy S20 and later.
For a Travel eSIM you pick a destination, then the data amount, duration and quantity. Day-length options are typically 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 or 30 days. Pressing the green button (for example "Get unlimited internet") takes you to the cart summary, where the "Discount code" field sits below the line items and above the total. Type the code in, then tap the arrow (→) rather than pressing Enter, and check the total drops before you move to payment. Retyping the code by hand rather than pasting avoids trailing-space match failures. Only one promo code applies per purchase, so there is nothing to stack it with.
For Holafly Plans the sequence is slightly different: on the Plans page tap "Get connected now", choose Monthly or Yearly, select your data option — Light (25 GB), Unlimited Data, or the All In Plan covering trains and planes — then tap "Buy it now" and apply the code in the discount field on the payment step. Plans start around $49.90 a month. The code gives 5% off any Travel eSIM and 10% off Plans.
Once payment goes through, the QR code is generated and sent to the email address you entered. No account login is needed to buy a Travel eSIM, so that email address matters. The same eSIM also appears in the Holafly app under the "Plans" section.
Install on day one, over Wi-Fi, before you fly. You can use the app's one-button guided flow, or scan the QR code — or long-press it on the same device — and follow the prompts. Once installed, the profile shows up in your phone settings under Cellular or SIM manager as a second line. Set the Holafly line for mobile data and turn data roaming on for the Holafly line only.
One timing difference is important here. A Travel eSIM's day count is a duration that begins when the eSIM is activated at the destination, so installing early does not burn days. A Plan is the opposite: it activates immediately on purchase and stays valid for 30 days from the purchase date. Buying a Plan in advance of a trip starts the clock straight away rather than on a future date.
Also worth noting on day one: once purchased, an eSIM cannot be returned. The refund window and any minimum spend are not stated here and should be checked on Holafly's own terms page, as conditions can vary by product and region.
During your trip the eSIM behaves as a second line on the device. Multiple eSIMs can be stored on one device with different carriers and data plans, so a Holafly profile can sit alongside your home line. Unlimited plans deliver high-speed data with fair-use network management.
For a Travel eSIM bought with the code, the week is simply the countdown of whichever duration you selected. For a Plan, day seven is a quarter of the way through the first 30-day cycle.
Plans renew automatically each month for another 30-day cycle. The 10% discount applies to the first 12 months of billing, so months one to twelve are discounted and the arrangement beyond that is not specified in the terms given here.
Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time with no fees or long-term commitment; annual plans carry a 12-month commitment period. Cancellation is done from the account panel or user profile, not by email. Switching to a different plan is not a single action either: you cancel the existing one and buy a new one — at which point the single-code-per-purchase rule applies again to that fresh order.
