Sunday Lunch
at The Star
Feb 22nd
Sixteen HOWLERS returned to what is becoming a favourite venue with generous portions and a varied menu …and some fine Ales. I originally only booked for eight, but the numbers quickly swelled.
Cindy ordered her food straight away and was tucking in almost before all of us had found our places!
Great to see Peter and Nicole back from their trip down under. We all took care not to give Peter a welcoming handshake or pat on the back.
We will be feasting again soon to celebrate the Chinese New Year - the Year of the Firehorse
Howl Hotshots
strike again
Feb 1st
11 Howl Hotshots blew away the February chills at Guildford Spectrum with a dazzling display of Tenpin Bowling talent.
Strikes and spares abounded as we hurled, spun and skidded our way down the lanes with pinpoint accuracy with ne’er a side rail used.
Sue B was the overall winner, taking the crown from last year’s winner, Steve, whilst Tom was a close 3rd. The highest score was actually recorded by MissTerry, a fictional ‘12th man’ made up of all members of the team on lane six – well, as that famous Greek Biking philosopher Aristotle once said, ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, or something like that –
...but Sue still got the prize of chocolates😉
Thanks go to Charles for organising
Free Drinks
at The Magpie
Jan 8th
14 Howlers had a fun evening at The Magpie for our first club night of the year. Santa looked in on his way back to Lapland (courtesy of Anne) with toffees and jelly babies - even balancing one on his head.
Petar was not the only one to indulge as we took advantage of our £100 voucher from our Xmas meal, to offer free drinks all round.
Lovely to welcome back Jaklin, Petar’s daughter, who as pillion, braved the rain of storm Goretti - and did wonders for the average age of the group
And well done to Anne for signing up for another 3 years HOC Membership 👏
CHILLY RYKAS MEET
Jan 1st
Twelve HOWLers - ten adults, one mini-HOWLer, and Barney the dog - who didn’t howl - chilled out at a post Xmas/New Year’s Day gathering at Ryka’s. It was good to meet up with Mark again – he along with Gary and Cindy and Simon and Karen and Mark were hardcore and came by bike. We would have come on two wheels, but Jude’s knee recuperation won’t stretch to that. Indeed, ‘twas a bit chilly, with the temperature weirdly colder mid-afternoon, than the morning but a great way to start the New Year.
On a cold day, Karen and Mark were hardcore
