The First Builders created Oakhaven to work with the forces of the canyon and the river. Its foundations flexed. Its geothermal systems carried heat upward. Ancient mechanisms helped hold its tiers together. Its natural resonance—the Vein-Song—allowed the city to absorb the movement of the earth rather than fight it.
Centuries later, the Guild sought something different: permanence, control, and perfect order. Their attempt to make Oakhaven still threatens to turn the city itself into a brittle monument.

The City Has Layers
Oakhaven rises through the canyon in tiers, and every level reveals another side of the struggle for power, survival, and control.
At the lower reaches of Oakhaven, the air carries the smells of river silt, woodsmoke, coal, wet basalt, and industry. Workshops, docks, sluices, flues, and narrow walkways form a dangerous world beneath the attention of the Keep.
Merchants, traders, masons, and guild interests occupy the spaces between the mud below and the marble above. Ledgers and commerce can be as powerful here as any blade.
White stone, blue-fire beacons, marble walls, grand halls, and the machinery of authority dominate the heights. From here, the Guild tries to impose its vision of order on the entire city.
Beneath the polished city lies the older Oakhaven—the deep foundations, geothermal passages, vaults, forgotten mechanisms, and buried truths left behind by the First Builders.

The Drowned District
The Drowned District is Kara's home and the heart of the Oakhaven story. It is a place of workshops and waterways, ferrymen and smiths, children who know the pipes better than the streets, and workers who understand the city through their hands.
