I was assigned to be on the executive team, I oversaw marketing. I really enjoyed being a part of this team and helping to direct everyone in our collaboration. I know that I do well with overseeing people because I am hard working and use my knowledge to the best of my ability to problem solve in times of trouble or stress. I was able to use my psych major to demonstrate my understanding of the inner workings of the human mind which is heavily used in marketing. This is done to help predict trends and popularity and what would appeal to the masses.
When I went into this project I expected it to be a lot more stressful than it actually was. I was pleased to see how well the whole class was able to work together to finalize a great product. In the beginning my team did a lot of work to find trend predictions and share them with everyone else, then in the middle unfortunately we didn't really have much to do. When waiting on the product from everyone else we kind of just sat around which the whole team felt bad about, but then at the end we had to work really hard to pull everything together to create a well marketed finished product! I think we did a great job at handling our tasks with the time frames provided by the other groups. We were able to piggyback off of the other's ideas which made coming up with ideas really difficult sometimes but we then realized that if we just waited till everything was near finalized our job could be completed efficiently and successfully.
Interactions with my team went very smoothly as well as with the other teams. Everyone was willing to lend a helping hand and everyone supported each other's ideas and engaged with their own thoughts. The other teams were the way towards us which made this project very enjoyable!
When determining when our parts would fit together we had to wait on the other teams which was difficult at times when we thought they weren't going to move fast enough for us to finish our parts. This left our team stranded at times and we felt like we were not doing as much until it was all piled on at the end. We delivered effectively but it would've been nice to have had more notice and time to execute better than we did, but we went with the flow as we were able to realize that our job was relatively simple.
In the beginning country music seemed like a way to produce a story in song form, but upon the second semester I realized that in order to have the story you had to really perform it. Authenticity is still a very relevant idea in country music which I think we all realized when we were creating our own in the end. Country music is all about how the music makes you feel and the very emotional aspects that go into its structure. Country music can't be as easily faked as some other genres of music which gives country music a different level of personable feelings to it when listening to it.
The music industry has to go through a lot to really grasp the final project. Writing, marketing, and popularizing are huge factors to music that can't all be done by one singular person. While working on this project my eyes were really opened to the note of how much work goes into one singular song. Writing and producing music is difficult and time consuming. I plan to carry forward the concept of delegating work when needed, not everything can be done by one singular person. It is okay to rely on other to finish things successfully when you have too many eggs in your basket.
We discussed this in class and I think that everything was pretty well structured. I was able to use my major to its fullest in this project, it was used in real time to analyze the effects of marketing on others who would be our streamers. The only thing I think that needs to be changed is the time frame, I think the creative team would benefit from more time so they don't feel as stressed getting this all done in such a short amount of time. I really enjoyed this project and think it was well formatted!
