Upper Elementary Resources

Traditionally in argumentative writing students are asked to form an opinion and find evidence to support their opinions. The C3WP model moves beyond the pro/con of the argument and looks at the complexities of an issue.  It gives students the opportunity to examine multiple viewpoints while developing his/her claim. This is achieved through a series of reading and writing experiences that knit student-driven inquiry with multiple perspective texts.

Upper Elementary C3WP resources are developed around the inquiry approach to learning.  This approach presents students with carefully planned activities and text that builds the complexities of an issue.  Purposeful talk, paraphrasing, visuals, and reflective writing support the upper elementary students as they engage with primary documents and text.
