I believe the purpose of education is to educate and build knowledge in children. Education is not only about school subjects but to teach children about who they are and the reason why they are here. I will build confidence and self-esteem in my students so that they can battle almost anything in their lives. Education is given to children to help develop long term life skills and support in their journey. It is important to educate children about different religions and cultures in the world. As an elementary education teacher I will have each of my students talk about their identity and worldview. I believe this is important because it allows students to feel comfortable in their own skin. It also gives their classmates a chance to learn about new religions and cultures that differ from them. This is a good way in teaching children about diversity and acceptance of all religions, races, and colors. The reason why I chose education to make a difference in a child’s life. I want to support them in any way I can and I want to see them grow as individuals. I want them to know that they can overcome almost anything in the world and they have the ability to achieve whatever they want. I want to push my students in trying different things.
In my classroom I will get to know my students by doing this I will provide a survey for them. This survey tells me what similarities and differences my students have in common. This can also help me know more about who they are and what their personalities are like. By the end of each chapter I will provide different teaching strategies and see what my students engaged most with. My students can expect from me is giving them the time they need in order to help them more. Another thing that my students can expect from me is that I will have my listening ears on at all times for them. I will put myself in their shoes and understand where they are coming from. I want them to succeed and by doing this I will challenge them. The most honest I can be to my students the more trust they can build with themselves and I. As I plan to grow I want to complete my masters degree in elementary education. If there are classes for learning different teaching skills and strategies I want to be apart of it. I want to ask for advice and learn from those who have been in the field.
I expect my students to follow the rules I provide in the classroom to make it a safe and comforting place for children. I want them to be honest to me and speak the truth in order for me to help them. I expect them to be positive in the classroom so that provides more engagement in the classroom. I know at times subjects can be hard but I want them to try first and then ask for help this way they learn what their mistake was. My students will know what I expect from them by reminding them almost everyday for the auditory learners. For the visually learners I will provide posters throughout the classroom so they can see it. I want to have a small booklet so that it can stay either on their desk or in their desk. I want my students to take away from my class that they can shine no matter who they are or where they’re from. I want them to really get to know their strengths and weaknesses so that they work on their weaknesses.
