1b. Responsibilities

1. WHS is everyone’s responsibility

• • All employers have a responsibility to provide a safe working environment. 

  • All employees have a responsibility to uphold and contribute to a safe working environment.

  • Even visitors, contractors and volunteers have responsibilities when it comes to WHS.

3. Thinking about your responsibilities and your employer's responsibilities discuss how you might respond in the following scenarios:

• The librarian asks you to lift down a box of books from a shelf above head height.

• The student you are supporting is in a bean bag and needs lifting into their wheelchair.

• The support staff need a quick staff meeting and want to do it at recess; they ask you to do duty in your recess break to cover their absence from the playground.

• Staff ask you to set up a challenging obstacle course outside by yourself while they get sunscreen on the children after morning tea
