The Highland Lakes robotics team is a mix of sixth, seventh, and eighth grades that have fun working together to complete the robot challenges and tackle the research project. Hannah is a sixth grader who plays the cello for our school orchestra. Jackson is a seventh grader who is part of our Rubik's cube team. Our other eighth graders, Michael, Salil, Kate, Gally, and Kilan. We work together to find solutions to every problem we encounter, and strive to display gracious professionalism in everything we do. We enjoy reaching out to the community while working on our research project; this year, we took field trips to Arrowhead and Anthem country clubs, as well as a trip to the Central Arizona Project headquarters. At Highland Lakes, we share our robot board with another competitive team without as many years of experience, and like to suggest solutions to solve their problems on the board as well as ours. Although getting high scores on the robot game and research project are important to us, we feel that ultimately, FLL is about improving on the year before, and having fun.
