I’m an experienced international educator and college counselor with over 15 years of teaching across Taiwan, Korea, and California. I’ve taught IB DP History, AP courses, Social Studies, English, and Visual Arts, and I currently serve as the sole DP counselor at my school, guiding students in grades 10–12 through university applications. I specialize in supporting international students applying to universities in the UK, Australia, Canada, the U.S.A., Japan, Spain, Indonesia, and Europe.
An IBDP counselor provides academic and university guidance to students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. They support course selection, manage university applications (especially for international systems like the UK, Australia, Canada, and the U.S.), and advise on key IB components such as CAS, the Extended Essay, and Theory of Knowledge. IBDP counselors also help students navigate the program’s rigor, offering strategies for time management, stress reduction, and academic & career planning, SEL lessons, and counseling.
Primary Responsibilities:
Academic advising specific to IB course selection and requirements
University and college admissions counseling, especially for international universities (UK, Canada, Australia, U.S., etc.)
Guidance with CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service), EE (Extended Essay), and ToK (Theory of Knowledge)
Supporting students in managing IBDP workload, stress, and time management
Writing school reports and teacher/counselor recommendations tailored to global university applications
Need Expertise: Deep understanding of the IBDP curriculum, international university systems, and how IB grades translate to admissions requirements
Students' progress portfolios by grade levels
Clock in and out through student's signature and the counselor's sign
