To enhance the academic competitiveness of their alma mater, the Chairman of Wistron Corporation, Lin Hsien-Ming, donated NT$30 million annually in his personal capacity for five consecutive years, totaling NT$1.5 billion, to establish a global lecture series in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), named the "Huaren Global Lecture Series" in honor of his parents and to give back to his alma mater.
In recent years, Lin Hsien-Ming has observed a decrease in the number of Taiwanese students studying abroad and a gap in software and hardware resources compared to the international community. He pondered how to address this problem and decided to invite international experts and scholars to Taiwan with the goal of providing students with the opportunity to interact with world-class masters and narrow the gap between Taiwan and the international community.
Therefore, the "Huaren Global Lecture Series" established through Lin Hsien-Ming's donation is primarily aimed at attracting outstanding talent in the international AI field to give lectures at the school. The hope is to hire globally renowned experts and scholars in the AI field, even scholars of the level of the international "Nobel Prize," to accelerate the connection between Taiwanese students and the international community, providing them with opportunities to exchange ideas with world-class masters and learn first-hand the latest information on AI and basic science.
