The Chairman of Wistron Group, Hsien-Ming Lin, donated a personal sum of 30 million NT dollars annually for five consecutive years, totaling 150 million NT dollars, to establish a global lecture series in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in order to enhance the academic competitiveness of his alma mater. The lecture series was named the "Hwa Ren Global Lecture Series" in honor of his parents and to show gratitude to his alma mater.

In recent years, Hsien-Ming Lin observed that fewer Taiwanese students were studying abroad, and that there was a gap between Taiwan's software and hardware resources compared to the international level. He thought about how to remedy this situation and decided to invite international experts and scholars to Taiwan to give lectures, with the aim of giving students the opportunity to exchange ideas with international leading experts and to narrow the gap between Taiwan and the international community.

Therefore, the "Hwa Ren Global Lecture Series" established through Hsien-Ming Lin's donation mainly seeks to attract exceptional talents in the international AI field to give lectures at his alma mater, and hopes to hire globally renowned AI experts and scholars, including those of the level of the international "Nobel Prize," to accelerate the integration of Taiwanese students with the international community. The lecture series provides students with opportunities to interact and learn from world-class experts, and to gain first-hand knowledge on the latest AI and basic science-related information.
