Welcome

intelligent System and Wireless (iSW) Lab, led by Prof. Eunkyung Kim, with the Department of Artificial Intelligence Software, Hanbat National University (HBNU), Sejong, Korea. iSW's research interests lie in technology, platform, and computing underlying intelligent IoT and wireless services as follows: 

• Technologies that enable IoT devices such as smartphones, autonomous cars, drones, and wireless sensors around us to recognize and analyze environmental changes on their own or through cooperation without human intervention, and correct new information by themselves and by themselves through optimal decision and response control, feedback and response of decision-making

• Intelligent systems and computing technologies such as communication/network systems, cloud/edge computing, open-source SW, and flexible collection, exchange, and exchange of information anytime/anywhere for AI and AI-X (i.e., application/expansion)

1. September 2022 - iSW will conduct a project, funded by Sejong Regional Innovation-Oriented University Support System (RISE)

   • Development of General-Purpose Feature Engineering Technology to Enhance Performance of AI Services based on Public Data (공공데이터 기반 AI 서비스의 성능 향상을 위한 범용 피처 엔지니어링 기술 개발), September 2025 - January 2026. 

   • Prof. Eunkyung Kim will take charge of the principal investigator in this project.

2. September 2025 - Prof. Eunkyug Kim will take charge of the Local Arrangements Co-Chair and a member of the Organizing Committee of The 17th International Conference on Ubiquitous and Future Networks (ICUFN 2026).

3. August 2025 - iSW will conduct a project, funded by National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF)

   • Development of AI-Native Proactive Learning and Adaptation for 6G-Aligned Integrated Sensing and Communication (6G 연계형 통합 센싱 및 통신을 위한 AI-네이티브 선제적 학습 및 적응 기술 개발), September 2025 - August 2028.

4. July 2025 - iSW will conduct a project, granted by Hanbat National University (HBNU)

   • Development of Learning-based Network Optimisation (학습 기반 네트워크 최적화 기술 개발), July 2025 - February 2026.

   • Prof. Eunkyung Kim will take charge of the principal investigator in this project.

5. June 2025 - Prof. Eunkyug Kim will take charge of the Publication Chair and a member of the Program Committee of The 6th Korea Artificial Intelligence Conference.

6. May 2025 - Prof. Eunkyug Kim will take charge of the Local Arrangement Co-Chair and a member of the Organizing Committee of The 16th International Conference on Ubiquitous and Future Networks (ICUFN 2025).

7. January 2025 - Prof. Eunkyug Kim will take charge of the Executive Director of Information Infrastructure in Div. of Academic Service and the Director of 5G/6G Communication Standards in Div. of Academic Project, The Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS).

9. August 2024 - We moved to Sejong Common Campus (세종공동캠퍼스) with the Department of Artificial Intelligence Software, Hanbat National University (HBNU).

10. June 2024 - Prof. Eunkyug Kim will take charge of the Publication Chair and a member of the Program Committee of The 5th Korea Artificial Intelligence Conference.

11. June 2024 - Congratulations! iSW and our collaborative laboratories in HBNU won a grant project, ICT research center (ICT 연구센터) supported by Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation (IITP).

    • ICT Research Center for 6G Wireless Communications Standardization (6G 무선통신 표준화를 위한 핵심기술 연구 및 글로컬 인재양성), July 2024 - December 2031.

    • iSW will take charge of one of the core research laboratories in this research center.

    • Prof. Eunkyung Kim will join the faculty member in this research center, led by Prof. Kyoung-Jae Lee (with the Dept. of EE, HBNU).

12. May 2024 - Prof. Eunkyug Kim will take charge of the Tutorial Co-Chair and a member of the Organisation Committee of the 2025 IEEE Big Data and Smart Computing (IEEE BigComp 2025).

13. April 2024 - iSW will conduct a joint project with Electronics & Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and Innovative Technology Lab (ITL), funded by Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation (IITP).
