The Riddell Revolution series of Helmets, 2002-2007, was the first helmet to be designed with the goal of reducing concussions instead of purely comfort and general head protection. In order to achieve this, Riddell increased the amount of padding between the player’s head and the outer shell of the helmet while also expanding on their air pocket technology from previous generations designed to absorb impacts and make the helmet more customizable to each player’s head. The first Riddell Revolution helmet, released in 2002, was also the first helmet to feature a four point chinstrap that allowed the helmet to remain better secured on the athlete under impact. (7)
