Lessons Learned
Watch this short video for lessons learned about designing asynchronous learning activities from past submissions. https://youtu.be/RmRvo-ko3K8
Step 1:
Create a google folder dedicated to this project. Set the share settings for the folder to "Anyone with the link can view" so your peers will be able to view your site content!
Step 2:
Create a new Google Site. You can find it in the left sidebar of your drive under More, or by going to sites.google.com. Save your site in the folder you created for this class.
Step 3:
Add documents, videos, presentations, and more using the sidebar options. Just drag and drop!
Step 4:
When you're finished with your site, submit the link through the form on the Activity Submission page.
FINALLY:
If you make any changes, make sure you select "Publish" again!
For students at William & Mary, Virginia Tech, and James Madison...
Your institutions have organizational contracts with Google! This means when you make your sites with your school google account, automatic settings will limit who can see your site. In order to ensure access for your peers at other institutions, please check the following:
When editing your site, click on the icon of the figure with a "+"
Click the button that reads "Links: Links Vary Change"
On the setting that reads "Published Site:..." You'll likely see your institution name following the colon. Click the down arrow next to your university name and select "Public: Anyone can View" instead.
Publish your site!
Share your Google Forms outside your Organization:
If you create a form with a work or school account, you can choose if the form can be accessed only within your organization, or also by people outside your organization.
Important: If you turn off this restriction setting, anyone with the link can fill out your form.
Open a form in Google Forms.
At the top of the form, click Settings.
Next to "Responses," click the Down arrow.
Turn off Restrict to users in [yourdomain.com] and its trusted organizations.
