Record (as related to DBs) - A record is a full set of related fields.
Query - A query is a question you ask a database to find specific information.
DBMS (Database Management System) - A DBMS is software that helps you create, store, organize, and search data in a database.
Example: Numbers like 75, 82, 90.
Example: “These numbers are test scores.”
Example: “The student is improving because each test score is higher.”
Example: “Since the student is improving, they should keep using the same study method.”
Lesson Learned
In this unit, I learned how databases organize information so it can be stored and searched efficiently. I now understand that a field is one piece of data, and a record is a full set of related data. I also learned that a query is used to find specific information, and a DBMS is the system that manages the database. I also learned how data becomes information, knowledge, and wisdom, which helps people make better decisions. This unit gave me a stronger understanding of how databases work and why they are important in technology.
