Team Expectations & Participation
Attendance: Swimmers are expected to attend all eligible dual meets.
7th & 8th Grade: Maximum 2 absences allowed.
6th Grade: Maximum 1 absence allowed.
Team Pride: All athletes (including divers) must stay until the final team meeting following the 400 Free Relay.
Communication: To report an absence, sign out by 10 a.m. on meet day. Failure to do so will result in not being in the lineup for the following meet. If you sign out but decide to attend, you must email coaches by 10 a.m. to request a spot in the lineup (not guaranteed).
Invitational: By the last weke of the season, coaches will select aproimently 25 athletes total from all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to compete in the season-end invitational. Invites are based on your best times and overall sportsmanship throughout the season.
Meet Logistics
Location: All home meets are held at our practice facility.
6th Grade Participation: 6th graders compete in all home meets but do not travel to away meets (except for Meads Mill).
Transportation (7th/8th Grade):
Buses: depart between 2:15–3:00 p.m. Students are excused from class at that time (listen for the announcement).
Round-Trip: Any meet against Hartland, Howell, Wayne or McBride
One-Way: Any meet against Novi (return transport not provided).
No Bus: Meets against Meads Mill.
Updates: Check your email and the team website daily for frequent updates. There is no practice on meet days.
Safety & Conduct
Belongings: Keep gear in a locked locker or on the pool deck within sight.
Behavior: Zero tolerance for horseplay in locker rooms, on the deck or on the buses.
Volunteers: Parents are strongly encouraged to sign up via the volunteer site to help run home meets. If we do not recive enoungh vonteers by the start of the meet, the meet will be cancelled.
Gear & Nutrition
Suit: Team suit or solid black competitive racing suit (no logos/lettering). Endurance fabric is recommended (Flyback for girls, Jammers for boys).
Cap/Goggles: Black or team-branded caps only. Goggles must not cover the nose (Speedo Vanquishers recommended).
Essentials: Extra towels (shammy for divers) and a non-glass water bottle.
Snacks: Healthy, non-messy options (nuts, pretzels, granola bars, fresh fruit). Avoid sugary snacks.
Meet Rules
Format: All races are co-ed. We compete in the KLAA Sports League.
Club Swimming (MISCA Rules): Once the middle school season begins, athletes may participate in a maximum of two outside (club) contests. A multi-day meet (e.g., Friday–Sunday) counts as one contest.
Scoring: Individual events are scored for 5 places (6, 4, 3, 2, 1), Relay events are scored for 3 places (8, 4, 2)
