My personal best is 3991m with the Dragster. The key is a vehicle that can get up the very steep inclines - vehicles with down force like the Dragster, Race Car, or Rally Car are all effective. Use whichever of those 3 you have the most upgraded.

I have personally wasted hundreds and maybe even thousands of hours maxing out every single car in 6th grade. My findings are here:Dragster is the best car for every map except for caves and mars(Because of low ceiling.) i maxed out at 16k with dragster. It is so ez too. You just cannot stop and cannot miss gas. All you have to do is hold your dragster upright. It has so much downforce it doesnt ever fail to get up hills.

While its tough to see on the Strava elevation chart the climb is really in 3 segments: bottom 1/3 is moderate, 1 mile steep in the middle, and the last 2 miles is flatter, except the last 1/4 mile which ticks up steeper. What pacing tips and strategies can you offer for the best performance? THANKS!

Assuming a 20min climb (ish), I would settle in to high sweetspot/low FTP on the initial 1/3, attempt to ride around FTP for the middle steep section, back to sweetspot/low FTP for the flatter top (maintaining a low aero profile on the bike), before the final steep section at VO2 max.

Participating in a hill climb is one of the most important things a brewery owner can do to help their business be successful. Members who participate in the hill climb get the opportunity to build relationships with members of Congress and advocate on behalf of the 9,000+ breweries that make up the craft brewing industry.

These accomplishments, and others like them, were possible because of the deep relationships that the Brewers Association and our members have built at the federal level. We know that advocacy works, and having a strong presence in Washington, D.C. is more important than ever.

Advocacy is an important part of being a small business owner. With more than 9,000 small and independent breweries across the country, and more than 190,000 direct jobs we have the numbers necessary to be a powerful voice in Washington, D.C. but we need to show up to be heard.

The 2024 Hill climb is our opportunity to speak in unison as an industry while we build new relationships with members of Congress and strengthen existing ones. That is why we are encouraging all Brewers Association brewery member-owners to participate in the 2024 Hill Climb. You are the best advocate that your brewery has.

On my bike, there are several target things that seem innocuous but are hiding a fair bit of weight. For example, I love my titanium King Cages, but I found a Tune carbon cage that shaved just about 20g.

In my mind, for an uphill road effort, nothing can beat the Lightweight Obermayer Evos. Yes, Lightweights are expensive, and there are in fact lighter wheels out there, but the benefits of Lightweight are so much more than just sheer weight. There truly is no other wheelset that delivers the same snap and responsiveness as a Lightweight Obermayer. It's a sensation that you just have to experience to understand (Which is why we're actually preparing a Lightweight demo program. Get in touch to inquire!) and given any choice, there's no other wheelset I'd pick for a race like the OSTT.

This reminds me of a hill climb problem. Imagine I'm at the top of a hill, a local optimum, where things are going well. But I can see an even bigger mountain, a global optimum, ahead. Unfortunately, to get to that peak, I have to descend down the hill, cross through the valley, and clamber halfway up the mountain just to get back to the same success I had. Only then can I start climbing higher toward the mountain summit.

Well put. Exactly the same when you think of M&A. When two orgs come together for synergy, they never get it from day 1 - they have to climb down their own local mountains (maxima) to climb this new larger mountain together.

I totally understand that reaction. Whenever we hit a new level of scale, it can feel like everything gets worse. It’s tempting to jump in and take control the same way that has worked for me before.

The hard part is that when I'm in the valley, I don’t know whether I'll even reach the mountain. I don’t know how long it takes to cross the valley, what new problems will arise down there, or whether I'll have enough energy by the time I make it to the mountain to start climbing again.

In my experience, the best way to get to that global optimum is to focus on what the future enables us to do — in this case, scaling the “mountain” to a fully empowered team. Of course, there might be a slight dip in performance as a new team figures out how to operate. That’s normal. But once they do, the entire company will have far more capacity. The dip will have been worth it.

This metaphor applies beyond scaling teams to scaling products or companies. How many times have you seen a company that’s doing great expand into a new market — and the disruption causes the entire company to do worse, until they hit a new rhythm? 152ee80cbc
