GETTING STARTED
The first step is to choose a topic.
Here are some tips:
• Choose a topic that you will enjoy learning about.
• Choose a project that uses materials that are easily available to you.
• Remember, the Science Fair is a showcase, not a contest. It should be a fun learning experience!
You may work alone or in groups. If working as a team, all work should be shared equally.
Parents, thank you for assisting your children with the Imagination Fair! They will need your help with obtaining materials, supervising experiments, etc.
Students, remember that this is your project, and even though your parents are helping you with some of it, you must do most of the work yourself.
Have fun!
PROJECT CHECKLIST
_____ Write out the Question or Problem you will solve.
_____ Write out your Hypothesis (your guess as to what the answer will be).
_____ Write out your Procedure (the steps you will follow to test your hypothesis). You should plan an experiment that will tell you if your guess was correct.
_____ Write out a list of materials you will need.
_____ Gather your materials.
_____ Perform your experiment. If you have a camera, take pictures of it.
_____ Record (write down) your observations and/or measurements, keeping your information neat and organized.
_____ If possible, repeat your experiment more than once. Did you get the same results each time?
_____ Write out your Results. Make a graph or a chart showing what you found out. You may make a graph on the computer or a very neat hand-drawn graph. Good websites for creating computer graphs are:
• Bar, Line, Pie Chart: http://www.mathsisfun.com/data/data-graph.php
_____ Write or type out your Conclusion. Was your hypothesis correct? If you had to do this experiment again, would you change anything? How could what you learned be useful to other people?
_____ Begin work on your display board.
- Keep the board neat and organized.
- Create a title for your project.
- Include a place for your charts and graphs.
- Include a place on your board for your Question, Hypothesis,
- Procedure, Results and Conclusion.
- If you are using photographs, print them and place them on your board.
______Prepare to talk about your project and to answer questions about what you learned.
The Imagination Fair will be held March 12, 2025 from 5:30-7:30 pm
