Interested in helping the Cross Country team this fall? The team is unable to use the weight room due to the pandemic. Donate an item from their Amazon Wish List to assist them in their outdoor strength routines. Thank you!

Running Doubles: this isn't for everyone. Why do it? It will flush out your legs to promote recovery. If you ran an age appropriate number of miles this summer and want to try running doubles - talk to your coach. General guidelines: keep the second run short - 20 to 30 minutes. Get on soft surfaces. 9th graders - 1 to 2 per week. 10th/11th - 2 to 3. Seniors 3 to 4.

Update on our numbers and coaching situation: OUR GOAL HAS BEEN REACHED!! Thank you to everyone who donated. All dollars raised in excess of the money needed to pay the coach will be used to support the team in other ways. We are limited to 24 runners per coach. The district pays for two coaches. The booster club is currently raising money for a third. That gives us 72 runners. We have 81 runners. We were to make roster cuts this week. We now have a 4th coach (volunteer) - Mollie Moore. Mollie will coach on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. We will have 4 pods, and we plan to have the 4th pod practice four days a week starting on Monday. We are planning to update the team roster/pods on Friday. To pay for the 3rd coach we are asking for a donation of $50 per runner (paid to the booster club). Booster club payments may be done via PayPal or by check. Write a note "Coach" in PayPal or on the memo line of the check so we know what the payment covers. Make check to "HP CCXC Booster Club" and mail it to Berit Nelson, 1385 Edgcumbe Rd, St. Paul, MN 55116

We are beginning to plan for the end of the !Fantasy Fitness season and the potential start to fall cross country. Some important updates:

  • Workouts are eligible for points as long as they begin before 11:59 PM Central Time on Friday, August 14.

  • Workouts must be submitted by 5:00 pm Central Time on Monday, August 17, but please submit them as soon as possible after completion for the most accurate scoring.

  • All leaderboards have been re-scored to fix a few issues with workouts not appearing for some people. We're still investigating oddities with some running distance calculations - all data is saving safely, however some workouts are not behaving with the scoring engine. Stay tuned for updates - we likely will need to refresh the leaderboard again in the next few weeks.

If you find value in !Fantasy Fitness and want to support its development, contributions are accepted via PayPal (tatebosler@gmail.com), Venmo (@tatebosler), or Square Cash ($tatebosler). Contributions are optional, but highly appreciated!

Girls Racing Uniform Shorts: We have many more girls on the team than last year. We ran out of shorts. The varsity squad is required to have matching uniforms. I think we have most of them covered. If you run in a non-varsity race we'd like you wearing something close the the royal blue short. If you'd like to buy a pair of matching shorts - these are the originals, these are the spandex version.

Join the HP CCXC Booster Club Board! Are you a parent interested in helping to support the HP Cross Country and Nordic teams? The newly created Booster Club needs to fill grade-level representative positions (Middle school, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th). The Booster Club meets roughly six times a year. It’s a fun group that works to raise money in support of both teams so that all cross country and nordic athletes can experience their respective sport in a meaningful way. We will hold a brief election at the upcoming Parent Party on Aug. 27. For more information or questions, contact Rebeca Escalante, rebeca@johngregg.org, or Sara Fabel, fabel.sara@gmail.com
