For years, Atlanta residents have fought against private companies being able to boot vehicles and charge predatory prices for removal. However, three women that call themselves “The Boot Girls” are now taking matters into their own hands. The Boot Girls, who protect their identities with ski masks, have gone viral on TikTok after starting their own boot removal business. Although it isn’t illegal to buy and sell boot keys in Atlanta, according to police it is illegal to use the keys to remove the boot. The women have gone toe to toe with parking lot employees and men twice their size because they claim they’re doing what they feel is right. Could it only be a matter of time before the police shut things down? Or are the predatory booting practices the real issue that police should be stopping?
