ELC COMMUNITY Initiatives (CSR)

2023 Care & Share

Charity Collection for the klang ekliptik children's centre

WHO & WHY?

The Klang Ekliptik Children Centre is a non-governmental organisation that houses individuals who suffer from genetic disorders such as down syndrome and physical disabilities. The residents of this home range from 7 years to 45 years of age. Many of their family members only visit them once a year, and some do not even visit at all. Some residents are bedridden and even have tubes up their noses to help them to breathe. We hope that through this initiative, we can show our support by providing them with their daily necessities. The organisation is fully self-funded, and rely on the contributions of the community to sustain itself. Let's do our part to serve the less fortunate. You may find them on Instagram with the handle 'ekliptikchildren', or visit their Facebook page 'Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Ekliptik Klang | Port Klang'.

HOW?

Visit the Christmas tree at ELC Reading Corner and take a tag or two from the tree. The tags list the items needed by the organisation. Once you take the tag(s), you may purchase the item listed (individually or as a group) and package the item(s) and leave them underneath the tree (no wrapping paper is needed). Stick the tag on the item with your name / contributors' names. Your contributions are much appreciated.

UPDATE:

Thanks to all who participated for your kindness, generosity and love! More than 400 units of necessities were donated by  40 individuals, 30 classes, two school departments, and two families. We are glad that  this second Christmas gifting event of ELC was a resounding success!

2018 Visit to Hospital Kuala Lumpur Paediatrics Department

On the 19th of March 2018, the English Language Centre teachers visited the paediatrics department in Hospital Kuala Lumpur. It was our first community initiative. Many children in the ward were either chronically or terminally ill, so we decided to bring some cheer to them. We brought games, colouring books and more and spent some time with the children. All in all it was a meaningful time spent. Let us not take our blessings for granted.
