Urban Sustainability Challenges and the Power of Communication
27 Mar 2025 (Thurs), 7pm - 8:30pm (SGT), in person or online, SMU Campus
Cities face pressing sustainability challenges, from decarbonizing buildings and managing energy transitions to designing policies that balance economic growth with environmental responsibility. Addressing these challenges requires not only technological and policy solutions but also strategic communication that informs, persuades, and engages stakeholders.
This panel brings together industry professionals to discuss the major sustainability hurdles in their respective fields and how communication—through storytelling, behavioral nudges, stakeholder engagement, and media strategies—can drive meaningful change. By exploring real-world examples and emerging best practices, this discussion will highlight how communication complements technological and policy efforts in shaping a more sustainable future.

This webinar launches the Health Systems and Reform special issue on “Objective-Oriented Health Systems Reform: Implications for Moving Towards Universal Health Coverage,” that brings together 50 authors from 12 countries to share their analyses and perspectives on health reforms in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Several of the papers describe why and how health financing reforms were implemented to address the diagnosed causes of health system underperformance on identified objectives, highlighting important positive and negative lessons.
Join us to hear from policymakers, researchers and practitioners on what it takes to design and implement health systems reform to meet objectives.
