Salvēte omnēs, and welcome to Latin! I am so excited to work with 4th & 5th grade this year. Here is some information about the upcoming school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Materials
Students will be provided with a workbook that coincides with the Picta Dicta Curriculum. In this workbook, they will take notes on vocabulary and grammar, and will complete Latin exercises. This will be done in-class this year. You will not need to complete any work at home other than review.
Curriculum
4th and 5th grade students will continue to use the Picta Dicta curriculum. I am thrilled to be able to teach this curriculum in class this year! We will complete the majority of lessons, exercises, and review in class. Students will continue to have their own log-in, so that they can complete review exercises at home. If a student is absent, they will also be able to complete any missing work at home.
The website for lessons is https://app.pictadicta.com/
Student login information will be as follows:
Username = FirstnameLastname (ex. JohnSmith)
Password = Latin
Students should have access by the second or third week of school.
Assignments
The majority of assignments will be completed in class this year, and home assignments will be limited to review. The weekly lessons will be listed on the Flex Grid. If you are absent, please log on and complete those assignments independently at home. There will be vocabulary quizzes for each Lesson. These will be announced at least a week in advance, along with recommended review activities to be completed at home. Students may retake quizzes to improve their grade.
